Unlike many mornings where I gulp down a whey shake as fast as possible before heading out of the door I took the time for a full breakfast today.
Since I’m off and didn’t have any errands to run I decided I’d treat myself to my cinnamon banana oatmeal treat. I sweeten it with stevia and it tastes like dessert !! The change though, wasn’t entirely intentional this morning.
You see, my cats Shadow & Nightime didn’t seem to appreciate the fact that I added a dollop of coconut oil to their bowls of dry food. This is something new I started with them since last night. As a result, my breakfast time was constantly interrupted with either of my furballs meowing at me in protest, walking around my bowl and my petting them to soothe them. So basically, I ended up eating a lot slower than I usually do. I think it probably took me 20 minutes to finish my bowl where I could usually down one of those in 5 minutes.
Supper last night consisted of fried spicy rapini and poached sole fillets. I tend to wolf down my food when I’m hungry but remembering this challenge and yesterday morning’s experience I tried my best to change that.
I made a cup of peppermint tea to go with our meal and made a conscious effort to savour my food instead.
