Low mood, lack of sleep or too much sleep, lack of interest in hobbies, guilt, low energy, concentration problems, change in appetite, sluggish movement and decreased libido. These symptoms surface as the days get shorter with shorter daylight hours. The source of this is my own medical knowledge from medical school. SAD lamps are one way to help beat the blues by spending some time underneath the SAD lamps for a short period in the mornings (whether it is eating breakfast or eating). Healthy eating and exercise always helps with depressive symptoms. Medications are also available.
