One tip I found here: http://www.besthealthmag.ca/get-healthy/blood-pressure/8-tips-to-lower-your-sodium-intake?slide=5 was to rinse canned vegetables to reduce their sodium levels by 9-23 percent.
Canned vegetables are something that my family eats. We go through around 2-3 cans of canned corn, green beans, and green peas each week. I usually just dump them into a bowl before heating them.
I had no idea about the sodium content in canned foods. I grew up in household who ate vegetables straight out of the can, so the amount of salt in each can tasted “normal” to me. In the future I will make sure to rinse each can of vegetables before heating and serving.
