Well as a result of this challenge, when I last took my normal shopping trip to IGA I took a closer look at the ingredients of some of the unhealthier foods I tend to binge on at times and I was pretty disgusted by them.
The first that surprised me was that Ritz crackers contain high fructose corn syrup. I have no idea why they need to use that stuff because it’s so unhealthy and evaporated cane sugar would be a healthier sweetener to their crackers!
The second product that stood out was Campbell’s artisenal soups. They come in small cans and taste great but the nutritional information is tricky because they contain about 26% of the RDA of sodium per serving, but a serving is only half of the small can!!! Normally I eat the whole can at a time so I guess I was eating 52% of my recommended daily sodium intake just from a single soup!
The third was Lays potato chips…. I knew they were high in fat and sodium but I never realized they contain MSG! That’s disgusting and I can’t see myself eating them anymore!
All in all this challenge helped me realize some of the toxic ingredients used in junk foods I eat on occasion which I’m going to try to replace with healthier options.
