This website inspired me to change my home-maker habits. Firstly, clipped a lined pad of paper on the fridge with the heading “‘we need to buy more…”
I then spent a lot of time last night (in fact I was on the roll so I only got to bed at 4am this morning. I visited the website: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2013/07/freezer-cooking/. I had read in the past a little bit about this method of using time and money more wisely but never tried it. Well, I read through the website which explains all the details about what freezes well, which container to freeze in and other helpful tips. There are also many tried and true recipes on the website.
Step 1: Visited and researched thepioneerwoman.com website for recipes.
Step 2: Visited the http://www.metro.ca/home.en.html website and registered as a user. I then looked through the online flyer and along with my recipes from Step 1, I made a shopping list.
Step 3: Added the items listed on my “we are out of…” list.
Step 4: Go to Metro and purchase my ingredients.
Step 5: Bake some yummy recipes and freeze them.
I know that I will be better organized, spend less money (especially on take out) on food, and throw out less ingredients since what I purchase (fresh) will be put to use immediately. By freezing my meals ahead of time, I am saving time and will provide my family with healthy meals made easy.
I hope this can be of some help for someone. I feel so excited and upbeat about my new habit.
