Do you have difficulty resisting a chocolate indulgence?
Good news is that you don’t have to feel guilty for consuming chocolate. A German study published in the European Heart Journal concluded that one small square of chocolate every day helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and hypertension. The benefits of chocolate are largely due to the high content of antioxidants in cocoa; dark chocolate is therefore the better choice as it contains more cocoa.
Unfortunately, conventional cocoa beans are often exposed to numerous pesticide treatments in the growing process. Choosing organic chocolate means you minimize your risk of ingesting pesticide residues. As organic chocolate manufacturing processes are environmentally friendly, it’s also better for the planet. And don’t think for a second that you’ll have to sacrifice the wonderful taste of chocolate by choosing the organic option; organic foods often taste even better!
