What my Mom taught me to appreciate most

My mother worked all her life. She had little schooling and had to help support a large family while she lived at home. It was the depression and every cent counted. My mother loved going to her job. I remember how she used to dress up and leave early so she could be there way ahead of time. She worked from 8 – 4:00 daily but she was at her desk at 7 am to have her tea and chat with her co-workers. She wanted to work long after retirement and did until 68 years old, but the company she worked for went out of business. So my mother taught me to appreciate a good job, work hard and enjoy the company of the people you work with. We spend over 40 hours a week with our colleagues and we should realize that they are sometimes closer than family. One day retirement will be upon us and then we will hopefully have fond memories and stories of our time at work.
