Wow, I am stunned. I took a long time with this challenge because I did lots and lots of research.
I knew that aerosol hair spray was bad news for the environment vs a regular spray. But not only that, the chemicals in it was astounding! So many chemicals are on the no-no list. The spray hairspray faired a little better although there were a few items on the no-no list as well.
I started doing research on making my own hairspray, using natural ingredients. I will give it a try during the Easter Break.
Foundation powder: yikes! again I had purchased, in the past, a foundation. I actually have two : one from Pur Mineral and another from Bare Minerals. The Bare Minerals had an ingredient on the no-no list….so much for being natural. The Pur Minerals did better, in fact the ingredients seemed more . Incidentally, I had not been using the Bare Minerals because it had been giving me a rash….no wonder!
As for eye shadow, the Pur Minerals faired better than the L’Oreal and the Lise Watier. I was not surprised by the L’Oreal, but really thought that the Lise Watier would be better.
After my research, I will never wear mascara again, all my mascaras contained chemicals from the no-no list. The next time I shop for it, I will check the label before purchasing, although I am not hopeful that I will be satisfied.
The good news: I did a good cleanup of my cosmetic drawers. I through a lot of items out. When faced with two fairly similar items, I checked the ingredients and kept the better of the two.
Great reading!
