March 8 is International Women’s Day. Did you know that even today, inequality still exists in Canada?
According to Statistics Canada, women generally earn less than men even when performing the same function. In addition, women are still not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and few women hold board seats in large corporations. And let’s not forget all the stereotypes that exist about women – like the classic example – they should stay at home and look after children while men go to work.
International Women’s Day is therefore an opportunity to realize that around the world, progress is still required in the field of equality between men and women. It is also a day to celebrate the achievements of women around the globe while calling for greater equality. Every day, women perform extraordinary feats in many areas and make an incredible contribution to advancing society.
