You can be exposed to pesticides in a lot of different ways and there are some simple ways to reduce the exposure as they have been linked as a potential cause of cancer in children and adults. One simple way to reduce exposure is to try and remove the pesticide as much as possible from fruits and veggies. Always wash fruits and vegetables under lots of running water and if its something you are going to be eating the skin of, then give them a scrub with a scrubbing brush. With leafy vegetables, discard the outer leaves then wash the rest thoroughly. Source : Canadian Cancer Society, website www.cancer.ca
