I salvaged packing paper from a package I received at my office, which otherwise would have been sent straight to the recycling. In this case, the paper was in suitable condition to use for wrapping for a gift. Then I saw this challenge and decided to ensure the other materials (“ribbon” and decorations) were recyclable as well. The string was new, but salvaged afterward, I selected butcher twine to tie up the package because we salvaged it to sew up the turkey once it was stuffed. The branches were returned to the outdoors to decompose.
