A Sleep Advisor

I always struggled with healthy sleeping routines when I was younger, and often argued with my parents about bedtime by stating that, as a high school student, I should be able to choose when I was ready for bed. One evening, after one of our classic–yet harmless–arguments, my dad looked at me and said, “I am not going to tell you when to go to bed anymore. You can stay up all night if you want to. But remember, six a.m. comes early and you are getting on that school bus regardless of how you feel tomorrow”. With that, I was satisfied…until the next morning, that is. My dad was right: six a.m. comes quickly and whether you are tired or not, life goes on and people are counting on you. He shared this advice with me at an early age. Still to this day, when I want to stay up later to watch t.v. I think of that day, smile, and go to bed! Thanks Dad :)
